Welcome Back!

Unknown-1.jpeg

Hello fabulous fifth graders,
I'm Mrs. Fitzpatrick, one of your fifth grade teachers.  I am looking forward to getting to know each of you and hearing about the wonderful and wacky things you did over vacation. I had a great summer with my family. We spent time in Maine and on Cape Cod.
I have been busy getting our classroom ready. I have many big plans for the year and I am eager for it to begin. I hope to make fifth grade an exciting and memorable year for you.
I am also happy to welcome Mrs. Sheppard back to fifth grade and don’t forget Ms. Lane is now Mrs. Hanafin. She got married over the summer!

In fifth grade we switch classes for both Math and ELA.  This is to help prepare you for Middle School where you will be switching classes for every subject.
You will be given a pencil pouch and pencils on the first day of school.  If you would like to bring extra pencils and erasers from home, that is your choice.  I have found that good ol’ # 2 pencils work the best, as mechanical pencils can be unreliable with erasing/lead replacements.   I also have folders and notebooks for you.

I bet you are wondering about our schedule!
We have Music on Mondays and Wednesdays, Gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Art on Fridays.
images.jpgFifth grade is a special year for you.  You are the role models and leaders of our school.  These are big shoes to fill, but I know you all are up for the challenge! Many students in the younger grades will look to you for guidance, especially during the first few days of school.  Be on the look-out for younger students who look like they may need assistance, especially when locating their classroom, office, or a bathroom.

My Blog is http:fitzpatrick208.blogspot.com  Please check this for any important announcements or information.  I also plan to use Instagram this year to share photos from our classroom.

My e-mail is  dfitzpatrick@bpsk12.org is you need to ask me a question when you are not in school.
Note to Parents: Although we do not request any school supplies, our classroom would appreciate any donations of hand sanitizer, tissues, and disinfecting wipes.  These will be used to make sure our classroom stays clean & healthy throughout a very important school year.  If you choose to donate, these items can be sent in with your child on the first week of school or anytime during the year.  I thank you in advance for supporting a healthy classroom.

Other dates to remember:

Pine Glen Back To School Night has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 13th

Our trip to Camp Bournedale is Monday and Tuesday, November 6 and 7.    More information will be sent home soon.
Let’s have an awesome year together!
